The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a late night shooting that left a man dead in Newark.
According to authorities, at approximately 11:58 p.m. Monday, Darel Evan, 33, also known as “Creep” from the television series Brick City, was shot in the 300 block of Clinton Place.
Auhtorities said, Evans , a Newark resident, was pronounced dead this morning at approximately 12:42 am at the scene.
The investigation is active and ongoing with no arrests made authorities said.
Brick City is an American documentary series on the Sundance Channel. The series is produced and directed by award-winning filmmakers Marc Levin (Slam, Schmatta: Rags to Riches to Rags, Gang War: Bangin’ in Little Rock) and Mark Benjamin (The Last Party, Jails Hospitals and Hip-Hop), who also created the series. Academy Award-winning actor and filmmaker Forest Whitaker executive produces. Executive producers for Sundance Channel are Evan Shapiro, Sarah Barnett, Mala Chapple and Michael Klein. The production team went on to create Chicagoland, which is a successor to the show.
